July 4th in Germany

Today was a "no game" day. The day started with laundry. I know, welcome to the 4th of July in Germany! The hotel will wash practice gear and uniforms for a very hefty price, but will not do personal laundry. So Dot (Coach Harried's wife) and I decided we would take a cab to the laundromat to do laundry. We also ended up with the white uniforms and practice gear. Ruth (good friend of our team ambassador) stayed with us to help read/figure out the machines. Wow, we did it. The team had an early afternoon practice at the arena.

Team USA took an afternoon harbor tour. The Port of Hamburg is the world's fifth largest harbor stretching 25 miles along the Elbe River. More than 1500 ships from all over the world call each month. Since 1189, it has been one of the busiest for trade on the continent making Hamburg one of Germany's wealthiest cities.

Ruth, Connie, and Laura helped interpret the harbor tour for us. Thanks girls!! Laura is our team ambassador. Ruth and Connie are teammates on her professional basketball team. Laura is also a police officer in Hamburg. We have adopted all three!

After the boat trip the boys walked to McDonalds. Surprise, surprise!! The adults ate at an outside cafe back by our hotel.
